Poland | Tatras | Slovakia & Czech | Coming Home 2003

When I came to Poland on 07. July 2003 near Suwalki, my first visit was the German Kaufland-supermarket. It felt like a trip in time. Suddenly I was back and I wasn't that much looking forward to come home anymore. What was going to come after the life on the road? On the Masurian Lakes I was impressed with the beautiful scenery. Warsaw I experienced as a bombastic metropolis and it took me a while to find its attractive parts.

Also Krakow fascinated me with its romantic old town and dismissed me with best impressions from Poland. I didn't have a close look at the high mountains of the Tatras because I knew I would be back there soon. The distances in Europe seemed to be tiny to me. At 25. July 2003 I came to Slovakia and only short after to the Czech Republic. Slowly I carried on from city to city and eventually arrived in Prague on 08. August. I had an appointment with my brother Raphael there.

Together we made our way with a lot of detours on 17. August 2003 to the border of Germany at Schmilka. Here in the Saxon Switzerland I celebrated my coming home one day later together with my family.

I cycled the last 30 kilometres to Dresden together with my family along the Elbe River. After 29 month and 29,455 kilometres on my bicycle I was back home at 19. August 2003.
